Star Spin that I learned from Roolan's Tute
1 Attachment(s)
This is a Star Spin I made as a gift for a friend. It's 41" across, hope it's not too big for her table. I've made several and finally learned to construct them just as I would a pinwheel, then the centers match more evenly. Those pesky corners are still a problem, you just have to mess with them. My latest improvements on my technique are to get the strips sewed together, (1) press well, (2) STARCH them well (3) then cut. I don't have any of the "fancy" rulers, I just use the lines on my cutting board and long rulers. I imagine you could get greater accuracy with the other rulers.

Very nice. I have had that pattern for about 25 years but have never made it up. Saw one on this Board a few weeks ago done in Christmas colors that was also stunning. So I may get to it this year.

Great fabrics and scrappy look. No two alike is very appealing.

|
Gorgeous! I have this pattern too, but haven't used it yet. I see so many different color combinations and they all look good, but I'm a bit intimidated to start.
|

Your Star Spin is delightful. I tried to find the Roolan tutorial you mentioned, but couldn't locate it. Would you be so kind as to post where it is found? I'd love to try making one.

Very pretty. You did a great job on it.

Hi JudyMN, I've had other requests too, and I've searched my socks off on this site with no results. Sooooo... I just messaged our wonderful "board master" (or whatever the technical term is for this amazing person....) and asked for help for all of us! Perhaps we can find "roolan" again and ask her to repost her tute.

Wow I really like how each section is a set of different fabrics. I have made three of these and I really like your more scrappy approach. I will have to make one. Thanks for sharing.

Love that pattern and your work is very stunning!
|
Dolly it is nice to know this can be done without purchasing all the fancy rulers and such.
I have had it on my to do list for some time now. I will move it higher up on my list. Especically since I have my fabrics waiting. I do not know about anyone else but I do not enjoy getting into a new project and have to purchase a bazillion things to get it done. Good quality threads and fabric prices are getting way too high for this gal. |
wow it looks fantastic
|
