I started this thread a while ago about the history of this piece . http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-45468-1.htm Thanks to everyone for their input and for kicking me in the butt. I had no idea that I would like it so much after completing the quilting. I did FMQ on the star and in the dark tips and center I FMQ'd some leaf designs. It's a bit hard to see in the photos, but you can see the design better on the backing photo. I used one of my many fancy stitches on the diamonds. I think the back looks as pretty as the front. I liked it so much, I put a sleeve on the back and after hand stitching the binding, will use it as a wall hanging. :> I hope the quilter who I got the pieces from would be happy with it too.

That's beautiful! I love the fabrics and your work is wonderful. Do you know if there's a pattern available?

I made this from a small baggie of cut triangles and diamonds that I received from a quilter who's passed away. I threw them all together and this is what I came up with. Some of diamonds were stitched and I had to try to arrange them. I still have some left over.

I'm sure she'd be really proud of what you've done with the pieces. I've been taking a closer look at it and trying to figure out to make something similar. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks everyone. It's a lesson to me that quilting adds another layer to the onion and if you don't "love" it quilt it anyway and see what happens.
