Start of my Hummingbird Quilt

Ok would like opinions of this layout for this Hummingbird quilt I am making for a friend of mine. My intention is to have the focus fabric in the left hand corner and border with these fabrics on the right side and bottom onlywith the final red fabric as the binding. My friend loves hummingbirds and her favorite color is red. Does this work or any other suggestions?

Thanks

It is beautiful fabric. You may need a darker green, it doesn't seem to match. Maybe its my screen.

I agree about the darker green ... but have another thought as well. Since she loves red - how about adding more?

Move the yellow to the position under the printed border - on both sides like you have the red.
Next border a wide red.
Bind with blue.
Eliminate the green entirely.

You are right the green does not go.....I am rethinking......

Try to find a darker green, like the dark green leaves. It is beautiful.

I like DogHouseMom's idea of eliminating the green, using a wider red border and binding with blue as well.

Look forward to seeing what you decide to go with and the finished quilt. Good luck with it.

Looking forward to seeing it started, but I agree with the others i'd use dark green as well.

Using more red & a darker blue instead of the green would IMHO really bring out what's going to be a beautiful quilt.I agree with Doghouse mom.

Hey, my friend. It's all in the eyes of the beholder. Look at the sprays of yellow flowers. What green do you see in the leaves? IMHO, I think a darker green would make it look too Christmassy (which would probably be nice, but...) What do you like?
