This is the beginning of my garden. One flower done, 195 to go.

quiltinggirl 12-18-2010 11:53 AM

Your on your way! From the looks of the fabric colors you have chosen, this quilt will be beautiful indeed. :)

bjnicholson 12-18-2010 11:54 AM

I want to make one too. I love your organizer. Great idea!!!

gollytwo 12-18-2010 11:56 AM

I began one for my oldest grandson when he was a babe, using fabric from all the members of his family, both sides. His Dad is my son.
He's soon to be 19; I'm hoping to finish it for his first born (not even in the offing - I HOPE)

Here's to you having better stick-to-ativeness than I.

ann clare 12-18-2010 11:56 AM

Beautiful flower. You are so organised.

kimnkell 12-18-2010 11:57 AM

tutty 12-18-2010 12:58 PM

Oh My 195 more !!! Are you hand sewing this ? Love the colors in your box. More pics as you go along please.

Vanuatu Jill 12-18-2010 01:19 PM

Stunning colors-can't wait to see if done! That is picture-perfect organization!

MinnieKat 12-18-2010 01:20 PM

I think I'm more impressed with the organization of your materials than I am with the finished flower (although that is pretty impressive too). I've thought of making a Grandmother's Flower Garden many times over the years, but haven't gotten around to it.

Donna Mare 12-18-2010 01:30 PM

Grins..remind me of the song when I was a teen.. 99 bottles of beer on the wall... but we had to say water when we were on bus trips in school..
Very pretty garden start...enjoy !!

luvstitches 12-18-2010 01:58 PM

Wonderful first flower and the organization you have is fabulous!
Keep going and take your time, it will be finished one day.

Wow! It looks so organized. I hope it turns out just like your vision.

grendelskin 12-18-2010 03:32 PM

You're off to a fabulous start! For most of us a GFG is a long-term project so don't set unrealistic goals; enjoy making your flowers and let it grow over time. Keep us posted!

Vanuatu Jill 12-18-2010 03:57 PM

Looks perfect for an on-the-go project!

RkayD 12-18-2010 04:28 PM

Beautiful start and love the other colours you have there. I admire your organised work box...I won't even begin to describe how my Grandmother's Flower Garden bits and pieces are stored.

TracyRenea 12-19-2010 03:33 AM

Sew distracted by your organization! Went and took a second look at your flower. Please keep us posted, would love to see the progression. Fabulous flower 8-)

What a neat way to organize your project. I'll have to book mark this so I can find it when I plan something with tiny pieces. Thanks for sharing.

Oh my gosh, I am working on that right now. I will have to take photos and share. I wasn't going to share yet until I was done. But it is so cool that someone else is doing it too. I love the way you have it organized. I have mine in a tin I bought but yours is so neat. Awesome. Now how to figure out how to share photos, it will be my first attempt.

some blocks to add

The quilt idea all started with letters my honey wrote me. Then I was taking an English paper piecing class. Then I was in Hancock Fabrics and ran across a fabric that had envelopes with little hearts. A quilt was born.

steelecg 12-19-2010 07:03 AM

I really want to make one as well - tell us more about your organizing box - I could put it in the car and work on it in the school pick up line

I love the fabric, I got mine out to work on this winter too...are you using the plastic templates? I am and it sure keeps things sharp...

Calico Grammy 12-19-2010 09:58 AM

Nanjun 12-19-2010 11:27 AM

You are so well organized, Probably wont take you long to make it.

Samara in OH 12-19-2010 12:21 PM

Thanks for all the compliments on my flower. I bought the box from Joann fabrics. I can't close the lid, but it doesn't go very far from my chair. I am sure that I won't finish any time soon, one reply said that her's wasnt done after 19 years. I will give myself a 10 year time limit, lol. ;)

Samara in OH 12-19-2010 12:29 PM

I bought the container for joanns, it don't have anything to store the finished flowers. I cant decide what white fabric I want to us. I like that yours is in different shades of one color, maybe in ten years I will do another one in one color.
