I have been working on this hexagon quilt today, my seam ripper is getting a lot of use. I am not use to dog ears...there has to be a trick in getting the seams lined up...I do get them done, but its hit or miss...and the miss means tearing out the thread and starting over..arrghh...I am liking how it is looking so far though.

Looking good. What size? Im doing 3/4" in all colors. First was a gmfg, and my kitty zoey is the
Proud owner of it. ( it didnt match anything in my house). And she looks great on it.

Its the 9 inch Hexagon, I cut them in half, easier to sew.

why are you working with (dog-ears?) i do (tons) of hex blocks---always working on a project with them- I don't know where your dog-ear's are coming from? are you maybe machine stitching these somehow? if that's the case...i still don't get it but guess it's a *machine thing*? when i do my *English paper piecing* by hand i never have a dog-ear. or any trouble lining anything up- everything just naturally lines up perfectly- that's what i love most about working with hex's...they are always perfect - without stress...
anyway- just wondering about your technique...your project so far is lovely.

If you are sewing you hexies by machine you are making a "Y" seam - go to youtubes and look for a tute on "Y" seams - there is a trick to it. It is something you need to actually see to understand.
