well ... i guess i should have put my eyeballs in sideways this morning. This looked just fine to me until i hung it up to photograph. it's the right size and shape when the stones go up and down (as planned) but looks wierd. it doesn't look wierd when they go sideways, but that makes it the wrong shape.

won't tell you how many times i've ripped off the attempts to bind the stupid thing.

i guess i'll name it Charlie Brown's Stepping Stones.

Geez....I didn't scroll down far enuf so I was sitting here tilting my head to one side trying to see what you were talking about! LOL Now that I scrolled down and saw the other picture, I STILL don't see anything wrong? Looks good to me!

Looks good to me too. If you don't like the way it looks maybe you could move some of the blocks so it is the right shape but the blocks are going the other way. I hope you know what I mean because that explanation sounds crazy to me!
Jo
PS are you sending your photo in so you get the free fabric?

Looks good to me..... :):)

I like it up and down. Maybe my eyeballs are sideways?!! Plus, how can you go wrong with blue, white, and yellow? It's so crisp and clean looking. Do your thing with some borders or binding Patrice, you'll make it sing.

That's so cool! I've never seen that pattern before. I want to tiptoe across it and pretend I don't want to fall in the water. :D

Awesome--no errors that I can see. I love it!

Any way you turn it looks good to me! Follow your own advice and step away from it for a day. It'll look great when you come back. Trust me!

Patsy,
I want you to know I did the very same thing. Got a crick in my neck and the computer didn't enjoy being turned on it's side, at all!

Looks good to me, too! I like those color combinations. That is a beautiful quilt. I've never seen this pattern before, either.

zyxquilts 02-10-2008 07:17 PM

It looks good both ways to me too! Maybe a border to "contain" it would make you happier with it? But I agree with Yvonne, step away for a day & then take another look.
Great colors & pattern, I think it's great

i don't dislike it. i just have this "thing" about symmetry and balance. it drives me nuts that it starts with a flowered row and ends with a solid. i didn't realize how disturbing that would be until i trimmed away the excess back and batting to prepare it for binding and took the photo.

i was also very frustrated because i didn't think i could add the extra flowered row without making the back look goofy. BUT the solution just hit me while i was writing this. i can fix it in a jiffy.

hmmmmm .... maybe that's why i was having such a tough time with the binding. the Quilt Fairy made sure i didn't get the binding right until i finally saw the solution. :P

P.S. i was led to this pattern by RisingPhoenix, who posted a question about it the other day. here's the link again:

http://www.quiltindex.com/SteppingStones.aspx

i made the quilt in ONE day. that is not a testament to my speed or skill. that's how easy this pattern is. i highly recommend it when you need to make something on short notice.

P.S.S. i cut 3.5" strips (instead of the 4.5" called for in the pattern) so it would fit onto the crib-sized batting i already had. with 3.5" strips, i used the same amount of all four fabrics. i got 6 blocks from each set of four width-of-fabric strips (one strip of each fabric).
