So, I drew up a sketch for a table runner and it's much larger than I had in my head...

I used ALL the red star fabric I had, but I can definitely get more of the blue. Still have more of the black & white. And I'm open to buying more "patriotic" fabric if need be. (Oh the black was just going to be a border, already had it cut out...just didn't get it in the picture)

So, what would you do to it? Would you add to it and make it a lap blanket..

One last question-- could a long arm create stars?? I would love to make the 6in squares pop with a star quilted in.

Thank you in advance!

To get a longer table runner I would just put borders on the ends and have stars quilted into them. A long armer can quilt stars in. OHHHHHHHH a thought-- Applique a star on wide borders on the end.

You don't think 18.5 inches is too wide for a runner? Or do I have a really small table, haha

Depends on how many eat at your table, assuming you leave the runner on. At our house it's only DH and I so we only use one end of the table. I use table toppers instead of runners and have sizes from 18" to 24" that I leave on the half we don't use often.

Stars can easily be quilted in!
