I showed you this wallhanging as part of my post on "Sisters' Week" fall '08 but it is completed now and hanging in my new laundry room. The birdhouse roofs are done in prairie points and buttons hold them to the wallhanging.
The shelf was a tolepainted shelf that was resplendent in dusty rose flowers and blue trim, so I sanded the flowers, painted it black and got our carpenter to drill holes in the sides so I could insert a removable dowel. I can change the wallhanging with the seasons, holiday, mood, etc! PLUS the shelf part gives me a place to display some related theme items... Still looking for where I packed the sunflower stuff! |
That turned out really cute!
Great job! |

I love your sunflower wallhanging! And you shelf is great too!

I ABSOLUTELY love it! I have the pattern, material ( I looked high and low for what I wanted), and buttons for this project. I plan to work on it this summer. Since I have only been quilting for a little over a year I wanted to wait until I was better because I really want this to turn out well! If it is just half as good as yours I will be proud :!: :) Birdhouses are my other "thing" I painted a wall mural in my kitchen of birdhouses. Maybe I can remember to take a pic and post!

ooooooooooooooo pretty

How cheery is that? No wonder you like doing the laundry! I bet the wallhanging makes you smile every time you look at it. So, any ideas for the autumn wallhanging?

I losve this pattern, I have the magazine and am trying to decide if I want to make this and the table runner or a crochet table cloth for my niece who is getting married in Nov.

Mamagus, I really meant 'winter', not ' autumn'. I've been looking for ideas for a winter wallhanging,as all my 'must-do' projects SHOULD be finished by October.

mamagus - I love that! And the prairie point rooves with the buttons are a wonderful touch!

I have had a few pms asking that same question. I know it was a summer issue of a magazine in 2008... and I think it was Quilter's World. We did it in a group and I didn't get a copy of the magazine when I could have!I have the October issue so it may have been the August issue. |
Also... it was on the front cover so you shouldn't have to look too far. Quilter's World has a digital archive if you subscribe.
|
Now that is really cute!

Lori--That is so cute!! I love the fact that you recycled your shelf and painted it black so you can use it for any wall hanging. You are such a clever girl!!!
