I have 85 started to add to the 22 I finished already, but it's too much to add one strip at a time to that many at once, so I forced myself to pull a few from the pile to finish up. Here's the first batch. There are different "lights" on these, and "darks"... but it'll all blend in in the end. (she crosses fingers) (the darker green flowers in the last light strip might not make it into other blocks... I'm thinking it's just too dark--it is the right shade though.)

No blocks are sewed together-I just laid them like this for you to see options.

Marica--see the pretty sunflowers from your house? :D

Very pretty!

Karla, you are doing a WONDERFUL JOB! Those are beautiful. You're crativity is awesome. How big is is going to be? Maybe you said but I might have missed that.

barnbum 03-16-2009 04:49 PM

I'm not sure, Jackie--I'm making a LOT of squares (over 100) so I'll have many options. There will be so many designs to choose from. I'll most likely need help deciding on one.

I wanted to get this and the Black and White Splash well under way before mare stare gets intense... then I can't sew. My stallion gets gelded Wednesday--so I'll miss more days this week. At least I didn't have school work the past two days!! Busy, busy, busy....

Oh so pretty - bet you have a lot of us copying your idea.

barnbum 03-16-2009 05:02 PM

that'd be flattering, beachlady... :D besides, ummm, the idea was born from two quilts I saw--one on here (a floral log cabin--Shelley's http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/11584.page ), and one in a round about way from a link on here (it was a watercolor Irish Chain).

SulaBug 03-17-2009 12:53 PM

WOW!! I am in love with your floral log cabin blocks. They are just terrific. I can hardly wait to see the finished project. Did it take you long to collect all of the flowered fabric, to make these? I can see that the flowers would have to be a smaller size. Do keep us posted!! :D :D :D :D

Weeeelllll..15 years?   I love florals and have collected and used them since my earliest quilting days. This quilt is supposed to be a stash buster... but I've purchased a few fabrics to use--mostly for the lights. I ran out of several already and am very picky about what goes there, so am still looking around. There's one more shop to check.

Thanks for all your kind comments. You sure do know how to make a gal smile (and keep going).

Jim's Gem 03-17-2009 03:38 PM

Your blocks are beautiful. I may have to make one of those some day. I have a few florals....
