This is a wall hanging I made for my sister & bro-in-law anniversary. It shows them praying for their 2 sons (seen above).

Thanks for all the kind words. I am hoping the quilt brings them comfort as they are really going through a stressful trial in their lives riht now - and the only answer seems to be prayer.

feline fanatic 06-08-2012 11:09 AM

This is very inspirational and lovely and so wonderfully done. I am afraid to ask.... Did something happen to their handsome boys that they would need to pray for them?

Jammin' Jane 06-11-2012 10:04 PM

Amazing! It's priceless!

CAJAMK 06-12-2012 02:39 AM

LOL - so many people have asked that! No, nothing happened. It is just that they are in Bible College, out of state. And the family is really struggling right now - they just lost their home, after hubby lost his job 3 years ago. So, it is a real struggle to do anything to help the boys at college, and they miss them terrribly. And of course, they really want their boys to do outstanding in their Christian ministries. So, they pray for them.

I showed it to my sister last night (since they had lost their home, I am hanging on to it for them). I know she is going through alot right now, but she barely glanced at it, and her hubby didn't say a word. I know they are not quilt people, but I was really disappointed in the reaction - or lack thereof.

I have started trying to estimate the stitches, and have so far come up with about 18,000 stitches for the background only. That does not include the 4 people or the border. My sister just said "glad you like to do that kind of thing". I poured my heart and tears into every stitch! It is only the second time I have done this sort of thing.

We had a good evening of family fellowship other than this, so I know it is not necessarily that they are numb from their circumstances right now. We were laughing and discussing all kinds of things throughout the evening.

Oh, well. Guess I did it becuase I love her/them - and not for praise. I just wonder if I should not even give it to them? I don't want to force something on them, that they obviously don't appreciate or care for.

Oh my! Thank you.
I find these really fun to do, and not as time consuming as you would think, by the looks of it.

Thanks again for the kind words.

Diane007 12-20-2012 07:40 AM

very nice quilt.....................

pumpkinpatchquilter 12-20-2012 07:43 AM

That is beautiful - the sentiment just almost brings me to tears!!! What a treasured gift this will be. :)

Sierra 12-20-2012 07:52 AM

I made a quilt which I realized, through the grapevine, was not "liked" and I asked for it back. I made another, totally different one, taking into account the wife's favorite colors and toned way down (she is a "soft" person and doesn't like in-your-face type of art). Then I gave her a choice and she immediately chose the more conservative, which really featured her colors. We all are different. In your case, the disruption of their lives may be a big factor. But, as you said, some people just don't "understand" quilting and have no concept that a lot of love goes in to those stitches.

Whatever... your quilt is outstanding and obviously we quilters can feel the love that went into it. God bless you and your extended family.

debcavan 12-20-2012 07:54 AM

It just took my breath away. What a treasure it is.
