Very nice! I just might have to start looking for ties at the 2nd hand store and yard sales. No one in my family wears ties on a regular basis, so any ties they have a minimal and they wear the same 1 or 2 ties when necessary. I know there is a lot of work in getting them ready to cut and piece but the effort is well worth it.

I love your quilt! I have some vintage ties to play with that my mother-in-law collected. I wanted to make this quilt for my brother-in-law and his wife who took such good care of mother in her final years.
I bought the Fons and Porter book and will use their instructions as a guide. I cut out some paper templates from the templates in the book and laid these out, just to see how the block would come together. When I laid out the fan pieces, they were fine on the 12 1/2" white material block as per instructions. But, when I used the template in the book for the corner piece, it was so small that it did not even touch the fan. I had to increase the curved side of the template by 1". I am glad that I used paper first before cutting the fabric. Has anyone else had this issue or am I looking at this wrong? Thanks! |
I am so excited now. I have so many ties that have come from missionaries and now I know what I want to do. Beautiful quilt!!!
