My sister lives across the street (she married my hubby's half brother) on the old farmstead....they have beef cattle and alot of John Deere tractors! LOL So I made her this toaster cover for Christmas cuz everytime I've gone over there she has her toaster covered with a towel!
|
I'm sure she'll love it. My own appliances remain nekked and hedonistic.
|
Too too cute!! She'll love it!! Where did you find the John Deere fabric?
|
Lisa....I got that a couple years ago at Walmart.....You can still buy it...I've seen it online...somewhere! LOL My DGD was with me that day and they had 4 fat quarters, all JD fabric and she said "Gramma, you HAVE to buy that fabric for Grampa!" LOL
thanks for the nice compliments! |
I would love to get some...but not for such nice reasons as yours  My sister works for Caterpillar...I thought of a gag gift I could whip up for her LOL
|
Just do an online search for John deere fabrics....here is what I came up with

|
Oh my--THAT is so much better than a towel!! :D
|
Well look at that! The purrrtiest toaster cover I've ever seen! She's going to go gaga over that! Very nice and such a thoughtful gift.
|
Just darling. Another wonderful sister you are.
|
It's perfect!
|
I love it. I need to make a tea cozy, the toaster made me think of it....
|
Too cute!
I am making a toaster cover for my Gramma, but it is girly. A basket block appliqued on the front. Lots of orange, pale yellow and white on sage green Sweet Pea fabric. Her favorite colors. The John Deere cover is a hoot! |
Patsy, The toaster cover is soooo cute. I also have a nekked toaster so I might try making a cover for it.
Loretta, Thanks for the great hint. |
oh how perfect! isn't it a great feeling when we can use our creative outlet for something we know someone will love and use!
beautiful! |
What good advice ..........Thanks Loretta.......

Lorette:
Great Idea, thanks for the tip. I keep our toaster in the cupboard and everytime I vacume I have to get the crumbs out of the cupboard, too! Country Quilter: Your toaster cover is really cute and your thoughtfulness is to be commended. My mom, too, covers her toaster with a towel so maybe your thoughtfulness could rub off on me! Guess I'll whip one up. Thanks for the idea. Rebecca: A tea cozy? I was going to make one of those a while back and got side tracked. Guess I'll revisit that idea. Do you have a great pattern that is available on the Internet? Keep sewing and Merry Christmas one and all! Feathers |

No I don't have a pattern, Was going to look on the internet, and see if I found any I like, IF Not, Then I'll go with my own idea. I've been toying with the idea of a crazy quilt one . So I could add some charms and buttons pertaining to tea. |
Great idea about embellishing it. If you find a great pattern, let me know and I'll do the same.
Thanks, Feathers |

And someone asked about a toaster cover pattern.... I didn't have one....but found one that is what I basically did...except I didn't use piping and I used upholstery fabric instead of batting for a stiffer feel and I used 1/2 inch seam allowance (cutting the upholstery fabric 1/2 inch smaller where the seams would meet....I quilted my fabric and muslin lining onto the UF first, then stitched the two seams and put a border around the bottom! OH and my toaster is more rounded so I rounded the corners.

Thank you all for the pattern sites for the tea cozy and the toaster cover. After Christmas I may get busy and measure some toasters and some tea pots and make some. A million thanks!
Merry Christmas, Feathers |
Country Quilter
Thanks so much for the websites. I will check them out. |
This is really a cute idea! It sure looks so much prettier than a naked toaster! I may have to try one of these!
|
What an absolutely perfect gift! Great Choice!!!! I love it!
