Last night I finished the binding on this quilt! It's been a long time in the making, I believe I finished the top in 2009 (maybe 2010? not sure). It sat around because I wasn't confident that I would be able to do a good job quilting it on my longarm that I've had for a year.
Now it's into the washer, a slight drying, then lay it out flat to block and shape it. Fingers crossed.... I have 3 more quilts folded up on my bed that need binding. Those are going to be by machine! This took days and days to do by hand. |
Wonderful!! What a beauty.

Oh Pam it turned out just lovely! And you have no reason to lack confidence in the LA dept because your quilting looks GREAT. Love those feathers.

Beautiful! I love the colors and your quilting. This is my biggest want to do quilt...but they look very intimidating. You did an awesome job on yours! :-D :-D
|
WOW!
|
It's not that hard of a pattern to do, just tons of HSTs! Piles and piles of them.
I have avoided doing diamonds since my first attempt many, many years ago. Maybe someday I will try again using starch. I don't even know if there was rotary cutting when I was doing that diamond quilt. In fact, it just flashed into my mind the memory of using a ruler and drawing the lines for the diamonds. No wonder I hated doing diamonds and trying to get points to come together! |
Beautifully done, Pam! Glad you showed it to us!

That's one AWESOME quilt!!! The quilting and the quilt are just so spectacular!!
|
It's a totally beautiful quilt, you must have gotten a lot of practice on your LA because the quilting is gorgeous. I know what you mean about hand sewing the binding, but I also like this step in the process, I get to bond with my quilt for several days and then ta-da!! it's totally finished.
|
Stunning quilt! :D:D:D
|
I understand completely. I leave the binding until I just have to do it. It sure takes a lot of time. I have a quilt that I have put off so long that I can't find the binding for it now. I know it is somewhere in this house. LOL
