Sewscrappy & I decided to take a road trip and managed to hit three quilt shops along the way.. Mind you we were not close by no means, we left at 6am to make the drive to arrive at a decent hour.. the first stop we arrived to find out they are closed on Mondays !!! YIKES !!    Lillies Classic Quilts Debbie Viets - Owner 113 W. Myrtle Street Independence, KS 67301 E-mail: [email protected] Phone: (620) 331-4690 Fax: (620) 331-3230 http://www.lilliesclassicquilts.com/ However sally being the courageous one of us two went up and knocked on the door after she saw 'someone' moving things around... it happened to be the shop owner maybe ?!?!?! ( My apologies, your name slips my mind-however Im going to make a guess it was Debbie.. ) . She was lovely enough to let two complete strangers wander thru and OHHHHH and AHHHHH over all her quilts.. It was beautiful ... Oh and if you happen to read this Wonderful lady that you are !! .. Thank you again for your hospitality.. We quite enjoyed your shop and hope to visit again sometime soon when you are actually open.. I promise.. Had I thought to bring my iphone I could of taken some pics.. talk about a stupid "DUH" moment I had.. Here's a neat colorful map of a few Quilt shops in Kansas.. http://www.quiltvisionusa.com/KansasQuiltShops.html |
The second quilt shop was Mulberry Creek Yarn & quilt shop in Winfield.. I was unable to locate a website but you can find them in Facebook..
http://www.facebook.com/pages/IYarn-...34948806570951 they had a very nice section of yarn and a few bookcases of quilting fabric.. oh and don't forget to pick up one of their surprise 'scrap bags' for $3... Never know what awesome treasures you will find!!   Sorry no pics from this one..   |

Cool adventure and thanks for sharing. I lived in KS for 5+ yrs. Praire Quilts in Wichita, Kechi Quilt Shop, and an LQS in Newton (forget the name-15 years ago!) were my haunts.
|
I love visiting new quilt shops, when their open.
