The Twister ruler creates wonderful quilts. Fabric with strong contrasting colors creates a striking and eye-popping quilt, while fabric that is similar in colors creates a more soothing and subtle quilt.

The fabrics I used are individually beautiful, and I did not want them to merge in a typical Twister fashion. So I tried something a little different!

These fabrics were stuffed into a box that I bought at an estate sale. Looks like Kansas Troubles or Thimbleberries?

I added the neutral fabric in a grid formation.

Here is the final product!

I love the look of this pattern, but doesn't it waste alot of fabric?

Here is what I had left after I cut the squares. It looks like a lot of waste, but I used a bunch of it in the pieced border.

I like to make miniature quilts out of the leftovers of each quilt I make! I give most quilts away, but I can keep the miniature as a reminder of the original!

(Or the scraps go into the scrap bins for use in a scrappy quilt some day!)

you quilt looks very nice....I do exactly what you did and put a nuetral inbetween all my fabrics that become fans...I've made several and used all the scraps from it except pieces that were about 1/4 inch x 3 inches

Very nice...one of the prettier twisters I have seen. Job well done!

Hmmm, I see where you could use up the scraps. I have changed the way I do the flying geese because of the waste on the cut corners. I just don't have the time to piece those triangles together to make miniatures. I know they are pretty in their own way. The twister pattern is very very nice, I do love the way it looks.
