Been working on this for 3 years off and on. Lost interest until I moved into new quilting room. Also, 2 baby quilts recently finished.

Great quilts. The flower garden is very pretty.

CAROLJ 06-09-2010 03:53 AM

I am assuming the baby in the avatar is the one who got the quilt? Beautiful baby, she'll be all cozy in her lovely new quilt.

Post the flower graden after it is quilted. I think it will be a stunning quilt. Is it going to be a wall hanging?

thequilterslink 06-09-2010 03:54 AM

Beautiful quilts, the top one is/has been on my to do list for a long time . It is beautiful! Love the others too, great job.

mms61371 06-09-2010 03:59 AM

The top one is going to be a wall hanging. It will hang in my quilting room. The only quilt I have ever made that will be for myself. I always give the other ones away. And yes that is the picture of my granddaughter, her name is Maelee. I, also, have two step grandsons that I am making quilts for. Will post as soon as those are fininshed.

pab58 06-09-2010 04:42 AM

I've seen the pattern for the first one somewhere -- Quilkmaker, perhaps? I've always loved it!! You did a wonderful job on all of your quilts!!

sandyl 06-09-2010 04:46 AM

WOW, great quilts. And a big cheer to you for finishing your UFO. I love it when I can take one out of my UFO drawer and say "DONE!" Sometimes, there are years in between those times. Again, I think your quilts are stunning.

I hope this works. This is the drawn pattern that I use for the baby quilts. I printed the grid from EQ6.

I believe the original is called "Ethan's Star"

beachlady 06-09-2010 06:01 AM

I love all your quilts. Thanks for posting the star pattern - I was just going to ask where you got it. I assume since you printed it, we can 'steal' it from you and use it!!!

I like all three quilts. You do fantastic work.

mms61371 06-09-2010 04:42 PM

The flower garden came from Quiltmaker magazine, all time favorites, it was in Spring 04. The website may carry back issues. I'm not sure, but I will check and let let everyone know

Thanks so much to everyone for the kudos!

I posted a drawn pattern that I use. I found the pattern in the back of a magazine and drew it out on graph paper. Then I transferred it to EQ6, that's the copy you can see with the measurements I use. I think it is on the first page of this thread.

Very nice quilts. The flower garden is wonderful!

tooMuchFabric 06-10-2010 06:07 PM

The second picture, the pink and black striped one - is the border fabric shirred (gathered) ?? That is a most stunning effect, I am going to make something using that too.

Thanks for another really great, unusual (to me!) idea.

daisey 06-10-2010 06:19 PM

I love each and every quilt you made !

roseOfsharon 06-10-2010 06:29 PM

The colors are actually pink and brown. The picture was outside so it looks darker than it appears. The border is shirred. My daughter loves the look of a gathered or shirred border. I made a different quilt for her best friend and we did the gathered/shirred border. So, she had to have one too.

Oh goody. It's rare that I see something really new and interesting, this is a fun new idea to me (guess I needa get out more eh!)

Is there any particular pattern you used for this, or any specific tips? Or just start gathering gently until the needed length is achieved? Used a foundation fabric under the shirring?? Hmmm??
I'm going to incorporate this shirring thing into my next mini. I'm very excited about this.

sawsan 06-10-2010 11:56 PM
