velvet-backed silk wholecloth quilt
2 Attachment(s)
I made this quilt for my daughter who loves teal. The main top fabric is a hand-painted upholstery/drapery silk remnant, which I couldn't resist when I saw it at a local decorating store many years ago. The back is purple velvet from a duvet cover that constantly malfunctioned, until I was forced to take it apart and put the fabrics in my stash. The additional fabric on the front was leftover from a quilt I made for a customer, and the extras on the back came from leftovers of various sewing projects of my mother's, given to me when she stopped sewing about 12 years ago.
I am happy to have finished a quilt, reduced my stash and pleased my daughter. My daughter is happy that she is now warm at night! Alison |

Lovely. I enjoyed reading about how your fabrics were upcycled into this great quilt.

was the velvet hard to work with? I would happily work with velvet again, but I'll have to find another duvet cover reduced by 80% to afford it... Alison |

I never would have thought to back a quilt with velvet. I bet it's soft and warm!
