Here is the latest pictures of the quilt top - I sent it to Terryl and Marci to be quilted. They have added their touches by adding a "John Deere" outer border. It made it look wonderful.
If you remember it will be sold and the the proceeds given to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research. If you would like to bid on this quilt before it goes public, please let me know. We have set a limit that will be accepted for a beginning bid for this beautiful quilt, so don't insult the effort with a low bid. Many thanks to the ones that contributed to this quilt from across the USA. I received updated pictures from Terryl and Marci. They are closeups of the quilting being done on individual blocks. They are putting hearts, butterflys, swirls on the watermelon patch.
They are having so much fun making each block special just like each person that donated toward this quilt. Please enjoy the updated photos. I had sent plain muslim for the backing and they made the decision to change it to one with leaves and acorns. I had told them the quilt was in their hands and do what they wanted with it while they quilted it. They are doing an awesome job.......almost done! Backing looks blue, but it's really a yellow/buttercream color with oak leaves and acorns on it. Each block has a different design on it, Marci and I will be doing some type of echo/thread painting on the applique blocks to best accentuate the fablous work that was done on them. Our goal is to have the quilting done by the weekend, I will be making the binding tomorrow so it's ready when the quilting is done. We've certainly enjoyed doing this.

Very nice quilt! I wish you were selling raffle tickets instead of having an auction, as I would've bought tickets.

Hi everyone, let's all stand up and do the " happy dance", one of my clients (I own a small hair salon) saw the quilt last week and said "I'll buy it" when I pointed out to her that she didn't even know how much we wanted for the quilt, she just shrugged and said "When you love something it doesn't matter what it cost". I said we had a couple of things left to do to the quilt then she could have it, (we needed to clip the threads, and wash it). The proud new owner, Tena, lives in Ottawa, Canada. The quilt will go home to Canada with her next year, she took it to her home in Florida and put it on her guest room bed. Marci was awesome working with on the quilt, it's her long arm we quilted on, Gensquilts (Genny) did the binding and had it back to us within 36 hours. Genny did a fabulous job on the binding, I wish the photos (to follow) showed all the detail, but hopefully you can see most of what we did. Each block was a different pattern, the sashing was hearts, the borders were a spiral, that actually look like tractor tires rolling. I'm very please with that, Marci put spokes in the red tractor tires, it looks really good. The rooster, hen, and sun bonnet Sues are all echo quilted, really makes those blocks POP. It was a true honor to be trusted with the quilting of this special quilt, and a pleasure to just be a participant in this endeaver. I am ecstatic with the amount raised to be donated for breast cancer research. Thank you everyone for your hard work and for allowing me to quilt your masterpiece.
