What a huge stash of fabric you have. **Drooling** Nice job on the storage.

It must be wonderful to have new order in your sewing area. One thing has always bothered me about open shelving, and that is the fade and dirt threats. You are not going to get through that stash in the next few months (I don't think you will, anyway) and I would worry about light and dirt. I use cupboards (but am thinking about wrapping the fabrics using cores or rulers so I can stand the fabric upright for better usability) and use similar bin drawers your photo shows for smaller pieces, sorted by color.

Has anyone out there had any problem over the years using exposed shelving. Is there something I'm just not understanding?

Great idea! Great stash!

I love the visibility of the entire stash, but as Sierra says there is the problem of fabric fading along the edges, which has happened to me. I know that sunlight is a big culprit but I don't know about the effects fluorescent lights. Perhaps if you made a nice boxed fabric cover with a center split, the fabric could be protected and you could just flip up the center to see what you have available?
