Warm Wishes WIP

Say that three times fast :) I was thinking of sea/beach theme in squares (recipient lives in Hawaii), but how do I quilt the rail fence blocks? Any/all suggestions welcome.

I think the meander that looks like water would be awesome on this quilt. It is one of my favourite patterns for FMQ because it is easy but looks great. Great Warm Wishes by the way and perfect for Hawaii.
I agree with Tartan that would really look good.
Love it! Warm Wishes is so fast and easy. ;)
The easiest quilting that comes to mind, is a simple 'X' through the blocks. You could do it in only the 'rails' or focal fabric or though them all. |
I was going to say "waves" which is probably the same thing as "meaner that looks like water."
Beautiful quilt top!
Really pretty!

This is just a quick sketch with my sharpie to give you the idea of my water meander. It kind of looks the same as wood grain meander. There are probably better examples on YouTube?

Beautiful, it will be perfect for her. I always do a meandering. I love the look and love doing it.
It looks very "tropical". Well done.
Very pretty. Any overall quilting will look nice on your quilts. Waves by Tartan would look lovely as well!
I agree that something wavy would look great. It's a striking quilt.
Beautiful Quilt. I think Tartin has a good idea!
Thanks Tartan, both ideas look gr8.
nice colour combo
That is very nice and pretty.
nice job!!!!!!
How about fish???
Excellent quilt. Love the water quilting ideas!
I agree with Tartan as far as the quilting, this pattern is one of my favorites.
Great job and I go with the waves pattern.
I just finished quilting my Warm Wishes quilt on my "short arm":) machine yesterday. I did a grid which made an X in the rail fence blocks and then did a 'design' in the squares. It turned out REALLY well and I love it!!
How about waves?
Lovely quilt. I like Tartan's idea.

I just pulled this pattern from my pile of "I'd like to do this some day" patterns. What a treat to see it in lovely brilliant fabrics. It has moved up the list and I hope to give it a go in the next few weeks.
Lovely work. My pattern includes the "x" suggestion for quilting but I like the other choices already mentioned too. |
I am a hand quilter most of the time. I cross hatched the blocks and did a quarter inch at every seam. This is one of my favorite patterns!
When I make the Warm Wishes quilt, I straight stitch thru the the "stripe" squares making X's.
I like both the water and the waves. Have fun with it
Great Warm Warm Wishes quilt. Love the colors.
I think the all over meander would be pretty. I love the quilt!
Since my quilting is limited to straight lines, basically stitch in the ditch, I cannot advice you. However, I want tell you, you created a beautiful quilt. Very lovely indeed.
Love your focus fabric and color choices. Very bright and coloful quilt. I usually just do a simple SITD on warm wishes.
Very pretty.

I don't do a lot of FMQ. What I do for all my WWs is stich in the ditch around all the blocks and then create an X through the rail fence blocks. It ends up making the focus fabric in your WWs look like a square in a square instead. It's a nice secondary design. I like the water/wood grain meander, but I have no idea how I would do that.
