What did I do in June?

Raggiemom's post about June accomplishments made me look back to see what I'd been up to. Not very much. :( Well, at least not in quilting but it has been a busy month in other ways. My sister and BIL were here prepping and selling their house before moving permanently to Florida so I spent a lot of time helping them. But quilting was totally on the back burner.
I finished a little quilt. I've shown the flimsy before but I quilted it and it was my first try at doing circles. I made a lined drawstring tote. That was a first for me and I was totally convinced that there wouldn't be an opening but I doggedly followed the instructions and it worked!! Yay!! :D I participated in my first bee block exchange. The photos show the ones I made - a Greek Cross - and the ones I got in return. My colors were black, white, and lime. I started a Craftsy class on traditional blocks and made the first Arrowhead Block. And as a last gasp at June, I saw these cute little birds on Flickr and just had to make a few. I've also got a start on my design board; a quilt for a friend. The square photo in there is her dog from a Christmas card she sent me several years ago and I always just thought it was a wonderful picture. Her dog is getting old now and is ailing so I hope she will really like this effort to honor her love for her pet.

I'm never sure in which order these photos will appear but you should be able to figure it out. :)

Not bad at all for someone who did not do much quilting in june! (she says... loll) The only thing I did was starting to sew the binding on my WIP and I have not even finished it yet. I really like your Greek Cross blocks.

wow well not I would say you did more than you are giving yourself the credit for.

Did you say "not very much"? Way more than I have done.

Rose S. 07-02-2013 12:19 PM

Wow, you have done a lot I think! How hard were the circles to do? Love those birds....

I did the circles with a walking foot and a seam guide. The smallest ones were the hardest and I have a lot of not-too-smooth areas but I think practice would help with that. I might try it with a free motion foot someday ... or not. :D

You have done really well during June. I did nothing! I'm ashamed of myself but unfortunately life got in the way. I'm hoping July will be more productive. Thanks for sharing.

Very pretty projects. Sounds like you were busy with all of it.

kathbug 07-04-2013 04:23 AM

I have done nothing in the quilting department since the beginning of May! When the weather gets nice I am out side, working in the garden, playing with my grandchildren , in the pool or doing other outside stuff. I quilt when the weather is rainy, cold, damp and not fit for humans lol. Have a lot of quilts to get done and other projects with two new grand babies due this summer, a baptismal dress to make and other baby stuff I really should be working now but good weather seems to only be around for shorter and shorter time need to enjoy it while I can.

You have done quite a lot and some really cool blocks!

DebbE 07-04-2013 07:48 AM

Your quilting projects make me look absolutely lazy! Wonderful job on each and every one! Bless you for doing that quilt for your friend -- having lost the last of 2 quite elderly dogs a couple of months ago, I know what your friend has ahead of her. She'll love the quilt, and the love behind it.

MargeD 07-04-2013 07:52 AM

I'd say you've been a busy little bee and have accomplished much in June. Good going.

If I could only have done a tenth of that in June it would have been an accomplishment. I love your Greek Cross blocks. They are beautiful!

maryellen2u 07-04-2013 12:54 PM

I wonder what you would have finished had you been "busy"! I like the b irds. They would make a cute quilt too. I cool way to use some scraps!

Thank you. The pattern came from a book called "3 Fabric Quilts".
