The fan isn't appliqued to the block yet but how do these colors look together? The leaves of the roses are the color of the block but I can't get them to show up in a picture.

I think the smaller quarter circle should be darker, and the background a lot darker for contrast.
Perhaps put 1 or 3 contrasting pink roses on the bottom half of the fan?

I think it is pretty and soft.

I agree with Ramona that the base of the fan could be darker, more contrast; how about a deeper rose color. Each fabric that you've chosen is in the same light medium value. I personally feel you'll be doing enough work on this to warrant showing it off a bit more by giving the fabrics more range of contrast/value.

Try this for the lesson or experience:
1. Take each color/fabric you have there and put any other fabrics you may have of the same color with it in a row.

2. Then shuffle each row so that your fabrics for that one color flow from very light to very dark.
For example: Pale, pale baby blue through soft baby blue, to medium blue, to water blue, to deep blue, to navy blue, to nearly black blue.

3. Try for at least five values within a color range. This will help you to begin to see fabric by value more than by just color.

4. To carry this even further, use different scale prints in the block as well. Currently you have two solids here and one mini print that "reads" as solid.
Maybe the base of the fan could have a deeper color fabric with a slightly larger print....something that will show "movement" or texture in it.

You're coming along great, keep at it!

I think that you need a darker background to set off those pretty colors

I have such a hard time putting fabrics together. That's why I like buying kits so that's done for me. I have this color coming. Background maybe?????

I like the colors together, but the fan would show up better if it was alternating fabrics instead of all one print.
