What I made with fabric from Krystyna.

My QB friend Krystyna recently sent me a surprise package. I thought I would show what I made with some of the fabric. I think I might have enough left over to make a pin cushion/thread catcher. I made this without a pattern. I am posting a quick tutorial on how I made this below the pictures, in case anyone is interested in making one for themselves.

I measured from the back of my machine to front edge of the table then 7 1/2 inches for the part that hangs over. Then measure the width that you want it to be. Cut fabric for front and back and batting those measurements. Create sandwich and quilt as desired. Square up if needed. For the pocket it is 6 inches by with of sandwich that you just quilted. You will need to cut fabric for front and back of pocket strip and batting in those measurements. Create sandwich, but do not quilt. put binding on top edge of pocket strip. Lay pocket strip on top of quilted sandwich, line up lower edge and sides. Narrow stitch the sides and bottom edge of pocket. Next lay caddy flat and lay out anything that you will be putting in the pockets on top of the pocket strip to figure out how many pockets you will need to create. Somethings got their own pocket, but some things I grouped together such as marking tools. Or by size. Mark stitching line for each pocket. Those things that will get lost in a deep pocket will need to have a horizonal stitch line marked also to make pocket desired depth. Stitch those sewing lines that you marked on the pocket strip. Add binding all the way around. Then you are ready to use your wonderful new caddy. And there you have it my very first tutorial.

I wish Krystyna would give me hints on where to get fabric where we live... She has wonderful taste, and does very nice work.. I don't need big quantities.. I'm more into scraps..
