My daughter and I both LOVE LOVE LOVE this Christmas fabric. She has requested a quilt and picked out matching solid dark green. The trouble is--what kind of quilt is good to make using big scene fabrics like this one? We were initially thinking just a simple squares quilt with maybe 9-12 inch squares just alternating the green with the print. Any suggestions?

Cute fabric - love the retro look. I would find another color and do a D9P with the print being the four 'outside' corners. You can the blocks any size you want - standard is around 3" or 4" but you could do 6" or something. Just a thought.

Maybe use the other fabrics to make 9 patch blocks and use this print as setting blocks and put it all on point. You would have to be careful cutting and stitching the setting blocks and triangles - but I think it would showcase this cute fabric. Good luck!

Attic windows............I am in the process of making an attic windows for the same reason a LARGE print. I didn't eant to lose the beauty of the print by cutting it up and with attic windows it actually looks like you are looking out a window. I think it would be the PERFECT pattern for your fabric you will lookd as if you are looking out the window of the hustle and bustle of the people on the street.
All you need is a light green to go with the dark green for the window sashing. I love the fabric where did you find it on line? I would love to buy some and make a couch throw for my DD and yes I would do an attic windows. |

"Just Can't Cut It" pattern is great for large scale prints such as this. Your large scale fabric will be cut into 12" squares, then you need 5 coordinating fabrics.
This pattern is most likely available online. There used to be 4-5 LQS in my area. Every single store carried this pattern about 2 years ago. Needless to say, it was popular at all the quilting retreats because a top could be made in a day or two days. |
there is a pattern called sweet and sassy with a lime twist it would be great for your fabric
