Its a teddy bear baby quilt. Two different prints for both sides. Just didn't have the heart to cut the fabric apart. :)

That's gonna be so cute Henry.

It's okay not to cut them up...I think it's called a whole cloth quilt. I have one that is brown, one that is green, and one that has horses on it. I like them a lot.

mountain-moma 09-06-2009 02:33 PM

That is a wonderful quilt. I can see why you didn't want to cut up those fabrics. It's reversible. Someone is lucky enough to get two quilts in one. Great job.

Well I just washed the quilt in some ALL free. Well I went to get it out of the washer and the white fabric with the bears on it had ripped open and I had some cotton batting hanging out. ( I didn't think to get pictures I was so upset). I rushed over and did a quick repair job, while it was damp so that I could put it into the dryer on just the fluff no heat cycle. I sincerely hope it isnt ruined when I pull it out of the dryer. I am almost scared to look.

Yay! It is fine, just very fluffy now.

So they will just have to NOT put this in the washing machine.

This is the fabric that didnt hold to well in the washing machine. It ripped along the side.

This side is the strong fabric.

Good Job Henry!!! They are going to love this quilt :D :D :D

Is the fabric that frayed a flannel? Is the other one quilting cotton?
When I use flannel I increase the seam allowance and I also do a zig zag on the edges before putting the binding on. It seams to want to unravel more than quilting cotton. I also wash and dry it twice before cutting it because it seems to shrink pretty good through two washings...

Yes it is flannel. and the other is a quilting cotton.

Ill have to remember to do that the next time.

amma 09-07-2009 01:09 AM

I wonder if you went around the binding on the flannel side and did a zig zag stitch, if that would help it hold up to the washing machine?
A blanket stitch might do it, too.
