You Ever Wonder?

Do you ever wonder if people really look at your work? My husband and I restore sewing machines and I need to be inspired at times on things to demonstrate their handling abilities. Since ever piece is a one of a kind that goes with the machine to the buyer- whether on ebay or private I need to constantly be thinking through these. Below are two recent appliques done for machines that just sold on ebay. The inspiration for both of these came from portions of quilts that others on this site have graciously shared and have inspired. The pumpkin was done on a 1950s Singer 201 using metalic thread and sewed like a dream which was somewhat surprising for a machine not designed with that application in mind. The cats were on a 1950s Singer 319 which was fun to play with, had I had more time I would have loved to use a variety of the decorative stitches the machine was capable of. Well, on to another applique and a new machine- always a new project -thanks for the inspriration

Wow! Your stitching on those vintage machines is wonderful! I collect old Singers and just recently sold a beautiful 319, black, in table, and I even had the original sales receipt from 1956! The original owner paid $275 way back then and I sold it for $275! Pretty good, huh? I just love the old Singers!

I do like to see pictures of works others have done. I like to see how something has been quilted. I have hand quilted a few quilts but I recently bought a new sewing machine to try some machine quilting. I have yet to do a large quilt but have played at a few smaller pieces. Still chicken.

Thats very interesting. Your very knowledgeable. Sounds like thats a good thing in your line of work. I like your demo pieces. Thats pretty cool the facts about the machines and what they can do.

I'm new to the quilting world and never thought of appreciating old sewing machines. After finding this website, I've been enlightend to the love that people have for the vintage machines. Your work proves that they are not just a piece of history but still able to make beautiful stitching. Thank's for sharing.
