Default Project Linus day with my daughter

My daughter (13) and I had the best day today! Last night my local fabric store posted on Facebook that there was going to be a Project Linus event at the store. I've never been to anything like this, but I was pretty sure we could help. We both sat and tied quilts for about 5 hours and had the best time!! She wants to start going regularly and took home 3 quilts to work on and we also brought home a jelly roll kit to sew up. We were thinking the tied fleece blankets would be a great project for her girl scout troop.

When my son was in the NICU we were by his side almost every minute of the day, one day we left to go home and shower and when we came back there was a hand sewn dog in his little bed. It was the sweetest surprise at such a scary time. It's one of our most special keepsakes. I'd never heard of the Linus Project until last night, but I know these quilts are going to become very special.

These are the quilts we worked on. We sat facing each other and tied the stripe one from each end. She watched a youtube video to learn how to blanket stitch and then sewed the label on.

How super for both of you. What a great thing to do with your daughter. Win, Win all the way around. Please let her know that I think she did a great job on the label. BrendaK
