Default QB ROCKS! Quilt for great-nephew saved by advice from the board

My nephew's wife is expecting their second child, and I'm working on a baby quilt for her. But, their first child, a boy, is about 3 and was born before I took up quilting. So, I decided to make him a quilt also. Well, it all went well. I finished the quilt and the binding. ... all the fabrics were pre-washed, but when I laundered the finished quilt, the blue flannel on the back bled into the yellow fabric on the front. IT WAS AWFUL! QB to the rescue. I searched for this problem with bleeding fabric, and found quite a few posts about Synthrapol. I managed to find a web site that sold it. OK, got it. But, everyone said, you need a top-loading washer with HOT water ... ok, I have a front loader. So, today we spent several hours finding a laundromat with a top-loading washer. Laundromats don't seem to be doing a very thriving visit these days -- several we found were closed down and were for sale or rent. FINALLY found one. I'm thinking, this isn't going to work. BUT IT DID! I was shocked, and extremely happy. Here's the quilt. It's basically a "Warm Wishes" pattern; I did dwirling for the quilting (so much fun!) I think I like the back better than the front!

I love your quilt! So cute for a little boy. I'm curious about the "dwirling". How did you do that? Doyou have a long-arm or is it free motion on your domestic sewing machine? It looks really nice.

I don't have a long arm, and did the dwirling on my DSM. It's a bit of a challenge ... when I need to stop to adjust my hands, I try to stop on a seam. But I really like the texture it gives.

Adorable quilt and beautiful quilting. So glad to hear about synthrapol. I have some but haven't used it yet. Thanks for sharing.
