I think it is perfect --- The print reminds me of Mexican pottery
I'd like to know how to find the pattern & instructions.

I'd say you did a perfect match of the fabric, pattern and their specialty subject of study!

Do you have a piece of the original fabric to show us?

Here is a tutorial on the process for the blocks. I cut my pieces 4.5 inches

The layout was mine, no pattern, but it is just as follows:
Each block is surrounded by 1 inch borders, cut 1.5 inches
Sashings and cornerstones are cut 2.5 inches to finish 2 inches and the two outer borders are also cut 2.5 inches to finish 2 inches.
