Here are the quilt blocks for my first project. (Excuse the strings and bunny ears please). I am going to do red sashing around the blocks. Then one or two borders and a binding.

If I do an applique on top of the blocks when do I do it? When all the borders are on?

The blocks and the quilting will all be done by hand. Any ideas on how to do the quiliting?

Your blocks are great - I love the colours :D

It depends on what you are appliqueing.

You block design is quite detailed, and I personally think it would be a shame to 'hide' the design with applique covering it...but if you are considering an alternate applique block spacing them out, then its best to apply the applique at the block stage, but if you are adding a winding stem for instance that may cover a number of blocks then stitch your top together then add the applique before layering and quilting....thats how I did my sampler quilt, does this help??? :D

I think Izy is giving the same advice that I would. Remember sometimes less is more.

WOW----your blocks are stunning and I agree with the majority---I don't think you need to add a thing!
