This was a big step for the guild. When the guild was formed several years ago the charter members did not want to be beholden to making charity quilts. Our local hospital auxillary holds a quilt auction every fall and many of the ladies work on their individual church or other volunteer organization's quilts. These are generally wonderful works of hand quilted art and a certain prestige goes with the highest auctioned quilt. It takes alot of planning to put together a quilt for the auction.
What was special about this quilt is the scrappy look of everyone's fabrics, the simple pattern and finishing, and most of all the comraderie of the day. It will be on display at our local county fair in late June and then be sent to the RMcD House.
Any ideas on what pattern we can sew for next year?

I think your group completed a very beautiful quilt that any boy or young fellow would be honored to own. It looks wonderful and very nicely done! Congratulations to the group on a job well done. Thank You for sharing. I Love It!

the local quilt guild here in Hattiesburg make childrens quilts for the police to give to the kids when they go to a domestic call and the kids are off to DHS
I don't belong since I work but after my trip I'm going to make up some for them..since I've been folding fabric on the boards I've found a dozen kid panels I can do. It's like shopping in a store this room of mine

Beautiful quilt--you all did a great job on it. I sew with groups who do quilts for raffle for charities. I end up quilting them too. I love it. I will try and post a pic of one we just did for a senior center where we sew every week.
