Made two pairs of potholders. On one set I used binding and the other set I turned. Definitely prefer the turning method -- not only did they come out better, they were way less work.

They are the same fabrics...the pictures look different due to the lighting.

Question to you and others making potholders -- They are so lovely, but do you actually use them? I really need some new potholders, but if they looked as nice as yours, I wonder if I'd use them or be afraid of getting them dirty!!!

I love them! They are both really nicely done. As for getting dirty you can always make more which gives you a reason to quilt if you need another reason! LOL

I added this to the miniatures in the Virtual Section.

I hear you. I made one of these sets as a gift for my DDIL, and I will encourage her to use them. The other set will be used as "prize" at a party, although it has occurred to me that only a quilter would appreciate the work involved.

You are right -- a lot of work (in these pieced potholders) for something that will get dirty and laundered frequently. Probably best to use cute fabric and minimal piecing.

Those are great!
My mom made potholders a couple years ago for Christmas gifts. I had a friend come over and she was shocked that I would use them! I told her my mom would be more upset if I put them away and never used them!
Another thing to add to my "to do" list! LOL! Maybe a way to use up "practice" pieces!

Nice work. I believe in using things, as well. Don't like to see a quilt or anything like that sitting in a closet.

Would you give a little crash course in 'turning' the potholders, please?
