The backing is the same as the borders, but I just sewed like a pillow leaving an opening for turning then I did simple quilting and stitched close to the edge to be sure I closed the turn opening well. ..here is a close up ... hope this is what you were asking

Those are so pretty & I know they will be loved. I need to make some place mats for myself one of these days. I love your border/backing fabric.

What batt do you use in placemats? I love what you have done here--beautiful fabrics, simply done and a nice frame for dishes placed on them.

PS -- just noticed in this photo I had forgotten to quilt the border on this placemat...checked and the other three were quilted... so glad you asked a question or I would have gifted them that way Opps..

I use Warm & White ...it is thin and nice when setting a table
