Quilting in Camper

Wonderful! Last trip we took I took a portable sewing table that I'd gotten at an estate sale and my spare Brother sewing machine, a small cutting/ironing mat, iron, rotary cutter etc. I left them there to have whenever we go (our 5th wheel gets to live at the coast while we swelter in Fresno). I will take a couple of bags 2 1/2" strips with me next time to work on 4-patches. I also have a small applique project I leave there.

I also take my Singer featherweight in the camper to sew on. I sew sometimes when my husband fishes or goes on a photo shoot hike or one that is longer than I can manage. I do most of my cutting before I leave home because I only can manage a small mat in the camper. I also do handwork. I have a complete separate box for supplies that I just leave in the camper. It is amazing how many things I can do in the smaller space. I do have to set it all aside when it is time to eat.

When we camp, we use a tent, so I can't take my sewing machine, but I take my hand projects already to sew. My DS and DD are mega basketball fans so we go to tournaments - they watch the tournament games and I sew. The last few times a friend joined me and we turned it into our own personal retreat.

I take my normal sewing machine in my caravan. I sew on half of the table which is 5' in length and 2' wide. I have been known to put it up outside and sew there. I travel with 2 dogs who don't complain or ask for more space as long as they have their quilts to lie on. I do take hand sewing sometimes.
