My dad passed in January (on my birthday) of this year after a long battle with a rare form of cancer. We were so blessed to be given time to say everything needed to be said before he left. My mom has given me the his shirts and I am resolved to make a quilted wall hanging for each of my siblings and nieces and nephews.

This is the first complete tops I have done. I designed it myself. The first one hanging on the left is the "proto-type" and shows all the mistakes I made. The second one while it still have a few seam line up issues I realized it was too busy so this morning I finished the third one and it is much easier on the eyes.

Once I get all the tops made then I will have some local friends and hopefully some of you to walk me through the quilting part.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

You're doing great! What a beautiful thing to do for loved ones. I know you will all miss your Dad and this is a great way to honor him.

Good idea ... Dad's old shirts, a heart and cross!

How nice that you are making them for all ... How many will you be making?
