I thought it was a Jacob's Latter with a new twist on it. May I ask what pattern it is? It is a very beautiful quilt.

Well, it is a pattern my sister just put together. She has a beginning quilting class coming up, and she wanted to teach something that included half square triangles and four patches, plus a focus fabric. This is what she came up with. If you look at it carefully, you can see two different squares. Each has two four patches, and then one has two focus fabrics and the other has two half square triangles, forming a bow tie. She wanted a quilt with fewer fabrics, as it is very hard for a beginning quilter to select fabric. Three is pretty do-able. (You'd be surprised how many folks sign up who have never sewn and start off by buying a sewing machine...which they will bring to class, not knowing how to operate. Luckily, my sister is a very patient person. )

She had several good ideas for names for the pattern, but all were taken...google research is so handy...so she has called it Sands of Time.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Once I get this one quilted, I have another Bargello in mind I am just stuck on those and am currently happiest making one. This one will be a small wall hanging, I think.

I'm glad you made it too. It is very serene and calming with only the three colors. Nice job!
