This is a picture of one of the quilts I inherited from my Greataunt. She and my grandmother sold eggs and beans and/or traded them for scraps and fabric. They always took Moma with them and I can remember going with them a few times when I was young. Matter of fact...I got one of those curly perms when I was 5 or 6 from Grandma trading eggs for it. Does anyone remember those octopus looking curlers they used to put your hair in...well that's what they used on me. I'll never forget it.

Grandma and my Aunt used a lot of upholstery scraps. I grew up under these quilts and they were so warm.

When I found this one today I was so excited to see the backing...I thought that looks like some of the reproduction 30's fabric ...but...it's not repro it's the real thing!!!Look how well it's held up through all these years and many washings.

I have others that I'll post pictures of in the future. There are so many. Does anyone have any suggestions what I can do with them all?

What treasures for you to have. Keep them safe and hand them down.

It is funny, back then they made quilts to use. I have friends that make quilts and think they are too pretty to use, the quilts are beautiful quilts, but they buy cheap ones to put on their bed.

Yes and these older ones are warm and heavy. If I had to sleep upstairs with no heat (like I used to when I was a kid) these are what I'd want.
