This one was quite a challenge as I inherited a bag of cut diamond shapes from a quilter who has died. She had pieced the diamonds but I had to assemble them all and do a quite a few "Y" seams. I've decided Y seams aren't my favorite:> Anway, I took a close-up of the intersections to show that the quilter did her best, but they aren't dead on. Also I think she may have cut the blocks a little off as the center motiffs are a tad off...so maybe these were her rejects. Anyhow, I decided to put it together. I love the color combo but wonder if I should call it quits. There's only this one large block. I FOR SURE don't want to add on to it, as I tend to be a perfectionist and this isn't dead on. Should I quilt it and see if it comes to life and make it a wallhanging or even a bread cozy etc? I really don't want to put hours and hours into quilting it if the imperfections in her cutting and piecing drive people nuts. (me included:>) Opinions??

Well, I think it looks great, but I am not what anyone would call a perfectionist!

I think you are too hard on yourself - the blocks look great to me! Love the colors too - so maybe if you don't want it on display bkz of what you think are imperfections, just a small table mat would be good - not a wallhanging, as most people would then look more closely at it. Again, I like the way you placed your seam ripper in the photo for others to get an idea of size.

I'm sure glad you aren"t checking any of my work!! That looks pretty darn good to me, the only thing I sew are a few puckers on a couple, and quilting would cover that up.

I think it's wonderful. But I have decided that lift is too short for perfection. It would make a great bread cozy, or large trivet.

I say go ahead!! Some of us (me included) get so hung up on perceived "perfection" that we drive ourselves over the edge trying to achieve it. IMPOSSIBLE!!! Lighten up!! This is a special project with the work of a lady who didn't complete it for some reason.

If I persisted with the Perfectionist label on myself, I wouldn't even think about working on my 1880's red/green quilt top that needs total rework because the lady was way off on her design. But it deserves to live....so, I am going to do the best I can to square up her very curvy blocks so that the quilt can be made.

Not puckers really, but some easing in of fabric for sure. I don't do table toppers. My decorating is very minimal and I have no clutter about.

I think the advice about not using it as a wallhanging is good...it would be closely scrutinized. I think I might just quilt it up and use it as a roll/or bread cover at Thanksgiving.

I really like this! How about a wall hanging? It is neat the way the patterns form from the diamonds.

Oh, that is absolutely beautiful!!!! I just love it. If you wanted to make it into a quilt, it looks like you could put a large half square triagle on each of the 4 corners to square it off then it would be your work from there.
If you don't want it, do you know someone who sits alot. They would like it for a lap quilt. I really like it.
