I've been at it again. More thrift shop finds. This time a purse made from a child's knit top, and two small adult button up shirts. I harvested the buttons for future projects and whipped up a pattern similar to the one I previously made along with some ideas I've seen online. It's small - approximately 13 inches wide at the bottom, 8 inches up to the snap, and the handles are about 17 inches from bottom of purse to top of straps. It's very lightweight and has pockets on either side that can be accessed from each side of the handles. They are continuous from opening to opening on each side. I also incorporated the pockets from the plaid shirt to make pockets on one side of the lining. Hope you enjoy the pics!

I've lightly padded it to show it's fullness

I made this one up. I liked the slope of the pockets on some I had seen online and I used the technique from attaching the strap from one I did recently which was a Butterick pattern #B5109. Here's that link - http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-106170-1.htm

This shows where I could split the lining into 2 fabrics, I used just one this time

It's very nice. Love how you used the shirt pockets for purse pockets.

You have once again made a wonderful bag and have a knack for making them out of shirts, skirts, what a great way to recycle. Good job.

Talk about making a silk purse out of a sows ear. (Or however that old saying goes.) You did a great job of Making something great out of something others would have just thrown out. Pat yourself on the back and so "Boy am I good.)

Peggy - you amaze me everytime you do this! You are so creative! Because of your's (and other's) thrift store finds I can't pass up dresses and shower curtains and such I have to stop and look - the other day my husband said "you do remember your a size 8 and not a 12? Why are you looking at that dress?" I had to confess it was for the material and not the dress!

Keep it up - I love seeing your work!
