Miracle Quilt-Ta Da!
#1
Really it is several miracles:
Nephew is number 1 miracle and has a true warrior spirit. The docs didn't expect him to live and said he would never walk. Not only does he walk, he has climbed mountains, raced in several races, over come a learning disability and graduated college, he has a great job and he met a wonderful girl at a friends wedding and well.....yesterday we celebrated at Jacob and Sarah's wedding.
Smaller miracle: I finished the quilt on time. Was not sure that was going to happen! Working with 60-70 inch long strips that are only 1 1/2 inches wide was a challenge for me. PHEW- I did it. (Patting myself on the back)
And SHOCK  I followed a pattern! That is not my norm.
I will start with one sometimes and find all the things I don't like and change it all. (I'm sure I had more than one report card that mentions "Needs to follow directions" - sorry Mom!).
This quilt is from McCall's Oct 2009.
DH and I thought it was perfect because Nephew is color blind (on top of everything else) and he likes black, white and browns.
It is on my great grandparents bed that has been converted to a queen....Nephew's brother made them a log and carved wood bed that is a queen size.
If I get ambitious, I will make a couple of pillow shams later.
I ordered a label from Karen (karenchi) It is fabulous! Her embroidery is top job!
I had to throw in a picture of the inside too  Just for fun!
Hope you enjoy!

Wow, Alice, that is FABULOUS! Such perfect combinations to appeal to a color blind guy, as well as striking enough for the new wife. Really good fabric choices :)
Good job on making the deadline. Did everyone at the wedding get to oooh and ahhh over it?
