That is just too darn cute! I'm going to try that one day. Thanks for sharing (and managing the picture posting)

Back when my kids were young (baby is 23!), our Elementary school did something very similar to this for each kindergarten class. The quilts hung in their room until the end of the year when they were packed up into a closet. Fives years later when those same kids were graduating from 5th grade, they would be put up for auction in the fall festival. By that time, the quilts held quite a bit of memories and usually brought in at least $500-$600 per quilt. With 5-6 kindergarten classes each year, this was a huge annual fund-raiser for the PTA.

I have heard others say that this type of quilt is a good fundraiser -- each parent would love to have the quilt because of their child's handprint and name.

That is soooo precious! I hope the person who buys it will donate it to the school to hang up in the lobby or first grade hall. How I miss my first graders...even after 16 years.

That is an awesome quilt. I'm sure it will bring lots in the auction. Kudos to you, your volunteers, and the kids.

Oh you just gave me a great idea for my son's high school grad class.

They were wanting to do a pay it forward project. They also support the local woman's shelter. We could do a handprint quilt for the shelter.

This is such a great idea! It turned out very well. Did the kids have fun making the hand prints, or did they think it was "awfully gooey" or whatever?
