Alas, I am on the right coast and she is on the left coast. Maybe a tutorial in the works? hint hint

Grammy Dwynn.....Thank you for starting this fantastic display of 'scrappy quilts'. In my opinion, this is an example of how quilting began. I think this is truly what our ancestors began as necessity in their lives. Most of them would have been shocked to see the art quilts of today. (Do not mean to belittle the art quilts that I also love.)

First, I'd like to say I love traveling and teaching quilting. And I welcome people to my home. There's an airport in Fresno and I'm about 50 miles from there up in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

This is some authors I've learned from to do curves, landscapes and art quilting: Judy Dales, Karen Ekmeyer, Valerie Hearder, Jean Wells, Elizabeth Barton, Ruth McDowell & Lorraine Torrence. They have all published books. Cynthia Corbin is another instructor & I hope she publishes a book. Many have published their journey to being a quilt artist. It is a journey and adventure. Sometimes you go around a corner and a whole vista is opened, sometimes it's a dead end or private property. Art is an accumulation of a life of experiences and mine are different from yours.

Petthefabric, so very tempting ... but you are right - "Art is an accumulation of a life of experiences and mine are different from yours" - and I'm in the middle of my own journey right now. Nancy in Louisiana is in possession of one of my experimental pieces before I really got underway. Someone (who shall remain nameless) said something to the effect of that often when she looks at art quilts (I guess like mine) she just wanted to give the artist a hug. Well, I guess I'm on the right track since it elicited such a strong reaction. Probably fear, LOL.

I am soooo glad to have found this thread. All the quilts are stunning. So much talent. Some look like works of art. This thread is giving me lots of encouragement.
