Default Serenity Bargello

I finally finished this top. It was totally made up from scraps that Robert Kaufman donated to our church's Sower's group. I am making a few quilts for men who are in wheelchairs for Xmas. STILL trying to decided if I should used flannel for the backing. Close friends told me that flannel wears out quicker than cotton. I'm in an apt. complex so I don't have the convenience of a washer & dryer.

I have posted a thread that has numerous FREE Bargello quilt patterns listed from various fabric manufacturers. This one is called Serenity Bargello by Northcott. Only change I made was making the skinniest strip no smaller than 1" cut. Just too old for dealing with .75" wide cuts!!

This is beautiful, love these colors. I have heard that flannel backs help keep the lap quilts from sliding off.

Great Bargello! Flannel is suggested for the back of lap quilts so they don't slide off.

That is beautiful! It makes me think of tree covered hills in Autumn, just as night is approaching. I love love love your colour combination. Thanks so much for the link too.

What wonderful fabrics and colors in this. Imagine the flannel would be warmer for older ones. How kind of you to do this and I am with you on the .75 inch. Good call!

I've been putting flannel backing on quilts for almost 40 years, have never seen the flannel wear out before the regular cottons, I wonder sometimes where these things come from. Maybe if it's low quality, thin loosely woven flannel... I do always buy good heavy flannels. Your bargello is beautiful and flannel backing would be a wonderful backing
