I was in Ethiopia the last couple of weeks and I snapped a photo of a couple of guys and their sewing machines. I thought of you guys and your treadle machines when I saw these and knew I'd have to post the pics.

What a great picture, love the subject and the color. Just got my treadle cleaned and found out it is 1909. Still in great shape.

My husband is from North Africa, and men sew, as tailors and home decorators. Folks who have laptops, iPhones, and fancy appliances still use treadles. Singer, Pfaff, and Juki are the respected brands there. Next time I go, I plan to take a modern Pfaff that can be converted to a treadle. I'm asking my hubby to make the electrical in the house we are building safe for my modern machines.
