I posted this in the main forum, but thought I might have some luck here.

I'm just getting back into quilting and want to label my quilts. I've seen an iron on label book at Joann's but only liked a few of them. I didn't want to spend $9 for the 2 that I did like from the book. So, I bought some blank fabric paper that you put through your home printer and was going to try to make something using my computer. Anyone try this? How did you like it?

I'd love to see how you label your quilts. If you have some pictures of your labels I would be ever so grateful to take a peek :D

I usually hand write them. I saw the fabric for the printer but was unsure how it would turn out. Please share and let us know how they come out.

I'm just reading the back of the envelope the printer fabric came in and I see that it is DRY CLEAN ONLY. Yikes... this was going on the back of a quilt for my kids. The quilts will be washed.... hum.... might have to do some more investigating.

I bought some from Sweetwater. They are super nice and several styles to choose from.

I use the alphabet programme on my machine, sometimes add some hand embroidery, then bind the two sides with the same binding as quilt. I then attach to back of quilt usually on bottom right corner.

I don't always put labels on my quilts (I know, shame on me), but when I do, I do them on the printer with the inkjet fabric sheets. I recently made one that I put a bunch of tags on it for my granddaughter. I put photos on one side, and the name of the person on the other. It's been washed a few times and is holding up well. As for designs...I just do my own thing. I use clipard borders and text boxes with the wording. I can change the font, colors, size to get a label that fits where I want to put it. Not sure if I've got any pics of them. If I do, I'll upload them for you to see.

I have used my printer for making labels on the last two quilts I have finished. I do not remember what web sites I got the labels from but I am sure you can search and find one. I used one that had little quilting verses on them. If I can find it I will PM you and let you know.

I sometimes use the hp.com site. They have a free printing section that has quilt labels. You can put pictures on one side of it and the wording on the other.

Mostly I use my embroidery module.

A lot of ladies use the embroidery module on their machine. Wish I had one! They are soooo nice!
