I remember my paternal grandmother sewing on a machine like this. I was fascinated at how the treadle going could pull the needle & thread through to sew the fabrics. She made clothes, quilts, and anything imaginable on her Singer.

Flashback: I was in a First Grade Play, as a Butterfly. She made me a yellow Butterfly costume with attachable Wings. She made the upper bodice unit too small & I got stuck when she tried to take it off over my head. I started panicking & felt suffocated. I was maybe 6 yo then & to this day cannot stand to have anything tight around my throat & neck area.
