I'm new to quilting - and self taught through reading books and watching tutorials online. I have never done applique before but really wanted to try this little crib sized quilt for my new grand daughter. I was so excited with working on it but wanted to keep it a secret until it was done. Boy that was tough for me because with each step I did I fell in love with it even more. My dear hubby, bless his heart, listened to a lot of my oohs and ahhs as well as "what do you think?" questions. Each step was exciting to me and I really learned a lot along the way. I hand quilted everything except along the outer edges of each box containing the sheep and flowers - I cheated and machine quilted them. My son and daughter-in-law were so excited to receive the Sleepy Time Lambs quilt for little Miss Julia (now 8 weeks old). I'm anxious to do more applique work now that I've accomplished this one.
