This is my Double Irish Chain that I did as a leaders and enders quilt following Bonnie Hunter's pattern on Quiltville.com. The more blocks I got done, the more excited I got about getting it finished, so it quickly changed from a leaders and enders project to a main project. It still needs a border and to be quilted. I had to set it aside to work on Christmas projects and am now quilting a 106" square quilt for my DS and soon to be DDIL. They are getting married in April and the shower will be next month.

I made two 9 patch baby quilts from leaders and enders. One was in blue,yellow,green and white; the other was totally unplanned all the colors + white/tan for the lights.

It wasn't difficult at all, I just cut 2" strips from LOTS of different fabrics and subcut into 2" squares. I used one foil baking pan to put all the light squares in and one for all the dark squares. (These pans stack easily. I also have some with other size squares and various size strips just waiting to be put together.)

When I had a few minutes, I would sit down with both pans and pair up one dark with one light placing them right sides together. I stacked the pairs turning each slightly to make it easy to pick up just one pair at a time. I kept a stack or two at my machine while sewing other quilts and sewed one pair at the end of each chain stitching group. I was amazed how quickly the pairs piled up and soon the pairs turned into 4 patches.

It was a really fun project.
