That was so very sweet of your friend , now you have a nice back up machine it looks like..I like the color and the thread and needle info on it..

It looks like a Singer I had from the sixties. It had a case lid.

It has to be from 1970/71 as I still have my first machine and it has the same print on the case. The machine looks almost like mine too. Mine is a Penncrest made exclusively for J C Penneys. Your's I bet was made exclusively for Speigel but by the same manutacturer. Back in the day J C Penneys and Speigle were top mail order catalogue companies along with Sears.

omak, that was a very popular color for bathroom sinks, tubs and toilets, too. do you remember or are you too young? my daughter bought an older home and the original bathroom in the basement is that original color. real retro. :lol: :lol:

LOL ... I had forgotten! That and pink... yuck! I was just focusing on the blue hue ... but, it is a bit more turquiose, I think. STill a pretty color <g>

That looks like a heavy duty machine and you are lucky to have gotten it. I'm sure it will be around for you for many years. I love the old machines as they are better work horses than some of the machines out there today. Good luck in your research.

I like the comments on the colors for bathrooms! Our first house was built in 1965 and we bought it in 1971. The bathroom had lavender fixtures! It was hard to find towels, etc., at that time to go with the lavender. I settled on pearl grey. Years later we changed it all out for beige.
