Spoon's Brood
this a 56" square quilt made for my first great granddaughter Olivia Elizabeth due on August 25th. Her mom's nickname is SpoonChicken--her uncle named her that but nobody remembers why. Mom hen in center is enlarged pattern of Silly Chicken from Quilters Cache. Chicks are same pattern in real pattern size but without comb and tail pieces. There are 20 chicks surrounding Mom Hen. Mom hen and chicks are outline quilted and have feathers within body to represent wing. Mom Hen also has feather in each tail piece. Mom Hen is carrying her spoon under her wing. he backing is light tan with green/yellow roosters all over it. Whole quilt is quilted with hexagons to represent chicken wire. note to quilters: best not to use striped fabric in paper piecing!
